Giving Thanks At Christmas

Residents sent out 100 'Rainbows of Thanks' in a special Christmas project.

This year we decided to show our appreciation for all the amazing individuals and organisations who have supported us throughout 2020 by sending out 100 bespoke rainbow Christmas decorations, each hand-painted with a personalised message of thanks.

Resident Kay (95) said: “It was so wonderful to be a part of something like this and it feels amazing to be able to give something back to our frontline workers who have worked tirelessly over the past few months.”

Recipients included the staff of St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley.  Felicity Parsons, their Community Fundraiser, said: “We are so grateful to the residents of Acorn Court Care Home for providing us with these lovely rainbows to adorn our tree. Rainbows symbolise hope and they have brought real joy to our staff and visitors during this time, as well as brightened up our tree. This year has been a tough year for St Catherine’s Hospice, so it is fantastic to have the resident’s support. Thank you from everyone, and warmest wishes for this Christmas.”

Ami Higgins, from our Lifestyles Team who led the project at Acorn Court added: “This this project has been a real labour of love for all our residents who thoroughly enjoyed being involved and what better place to support than our local hospice who do amazing work supporting people in our local community.”
