Redhill care home raises almost £1,000 for local hospice

Acorn Court Care Home in Redhill raises nearly £1,000 for St Catherine’s Hospice through community fundraising efforts

A Redhill care home has donated almost £1,000 to a local hospice through their year’s fundraising activities.

Acorn Court Care Home, in The Kilns, which provides residential, nursing, specialist dementia, ABI and compassionate end-of-life care, raised the money with a range of initiatives throughout the year including bake sales, raffles, sponsored walks and community events.

Every year, the 86-bed home chooses a local charity to support and last year selected St Catherine’s Hospice to support their vital work in the community providing compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses.

“We are delighted to have raised almost £1,000 for such a worthwhile cause,” said care home manager Paula Deadman.

“St Catherine’s Hospice does incredible work for our community, and it’s been heartwarming to see our residents, staff, and families come together to support them.

“Visiting the hospice and seeing the care and dedication of their team firsthand was truly inspiring.

“We very much see ourselves as a key part of our community and giving back is very important for us at Acorn Court. We’re proud to be able to make a difference.”

To mark the end of their fundraising efforts, the team at Acorn Court, which has a Platinum accreditation with the Gold Standards Framework for end-of-life care and a retained GP, visited St Catherine’s Hospice to present the donation in person.

During their visit, the team were given a tour of the hospice, offering them an opportunity to see firsthand the incredible work being carried out to support residents and their families.

“We are thrilled to have the support of Acorn Court and are grateful for the wonderful donation,” said corporate partnerships officer Auds Stapleton of St Catherine’s Hospice

“This will help us to continue our valuable work supporting those who needs us most.

“Every donation helps us continue providing essential care and support to those who need it most.

“It was a pleasure to welcome the Acorn Court team and show them the difference their fundraising makes. This contribution will have a real impact on the lives of our residents and their families.”
